GATCHAMAN

Gatchaman

Director: None attached yet
Cast: None attached yet
Release Date: April 3, 2009

Gatchaman has been getting some hype, so I just thought it ought to be on the Must See list Movies of 2009. That said, I don’t know much about it.

What I do know is that Gatchaman will be a CGI movie based on the anime series of the same name, which follows the adventures of a 5-member superhero team.

THE WOLFMAN

The Wolfman

Director: Joe Johnston
Cast: Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving
Release Date: April 3, 2009

Even though I am not as excited about The Wolfman as I am about other movies coming out in 2009, I thought it did deserve a spot as a must see movie of 2009. Just looking at the cast alone should get you excited. And after seeing some pretty great footage at Comic Con 2008, I think The Wolfman is going to be a pretty dark, great movie.

The Wolfman is a remake of the 1941 classic of the same name, about Lawrence Talbot (Benicio Del Toro), who returns home and gets bitten by a werewolf and consequently becomes one himself.

DRAGONBALL

Dragonball

Director: James Wong
Cast: Justin Chatwin, Emmy Rossum, James Marsters, Yun-Fat Chow, Jamie Chung, Joon Park, Christopher Sabat
Release Date: April 10, 2009

I was debating whether or not to put Dragonball as a must see movie of 2009. On the one hand the trailer looked really bad, but on the other hand, it’s freaking Dragonball. So because of the legendary franchise, I think it deserves a spot on our list.

Dragonball is based on the Japanese manga series of the same name, which I was a big fan of.

STATE OF PLAY

Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck

Director: Kevin Macdonald
Cast: Rachel McAdams, Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Robin Wright Penn, Jason Bateman, Helen Mirren, Maria Thayer, Jeff Daniels
Release Date: April 17, 2009

I don’t know much about this movie, but when I saw the list of actors attached to it, I knew it had to be a must see movie of 2009. Plus the story looks like something I would definitely enjoy watching.

State of Play is based on the BBC mini-series of the same name, which follows a team of reporters who work alongside a detective to solve the murder of a congressman’s mistress. The mini-series originally starred David Morrissey, John Simm, Kelly Macdonald, Polly Walker, Bill Nighy, and James McAvoy.

WHITEOUT

Whiteout

Director: Dominic Sena
Cast: Kate Beckinsale, Gabriel Macht, Alex O’Loughlin, Columbus Short, Tom Skerritt
Release Date: April 24, 2009

This just looks like it could be a great kick-ass movie. Plus one of my favorite actors, Alex O’Loughlin, is part of the cast, which pretty much guarantees that I will see this movie.

Whiteout is based on the comic book of the same name by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber, about US marshal Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale), who tracks a killer in Antarctica, as the sun is about to set for six months. She crosses paths with a U.N. operative (Gabriel Macht), also investigating the murder.

Alex O’Loughlin is definitely the reason I WILL see this movie. I discovered him in Moonlight which caused me to search IMDB.com for more shows/movies. I watched and bought “Oyster Farmer”, “The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryatn”, “Feed” and “The Invisible’ . I also purchased thru iTunes the 6 eppys of The Sheild that Alex was in. He is a very versatile actor. I was amazed at how he sinks into each of his characaters & BECOMES them. He fleshes them out & makes them real. He is an actor that is going to be somebody. Can’t wait to see what his new show will be. Just hope it’s worth of his many talents!
